Welp.

Our Election Night Party At Club Dada Definitely Did Not Go As We Expected It To.

Today’s been super weird. If my social media feeds are telling me anything, it’s that a lot of you are still as shell-shocked as I am about the way things played out in yesterday’s elections — and yes, with the presidential race, especially.

I still can’t really wrap my head around the fact that Donald Trump is now President-Elect Trump. But that’s probably another article for another time.

For now, let me say this: Though the results might not have gone the way so many in the room at our It’s Just Banter-hosted Election Night Party expected, I thought the fact that we had so many young, politically curious Dallasites — a couple hundred of them at any given time from 9 o’clock to just about midnight — show up to watch the results come in alongside us was a really cool thing. I think that’s a good sign for the future.

Another good sign, I think: People representing both sides of the party aisles were in the space last night, and there was no real tension over that; in fact, the Trump and Hillary Clinton pinatas we bought to decorate Dada with last night were still intact by the time doors closed around 12:30 a.m. If that’s not a miracle, then I don’t know what is!

Many thanks to Club Dada for allowing us to use their space for the event, to Buffalo Black and DJ Ursa Minor for their spirited performances and to the IJB crew for hosting the damn thing. But, most of allow, shout out to you all for coming out and rocking with us. As is always true at these things, it’s you all who really set parties like this off.

We look forward to doing it again sometime. Until then, though, catch a glimpse of yourselves doing you in the above slideshow from photographer Ashley Gongora.
