Dallas Stonegaze Trio True Widow Signs with Relapse Records.

Big news out of True Widow camp today, as renowned metal label Relapse Records has announced today that it will release the revered area stonegaze trio's forthcoming, as-yet-unnamed third record, due out this spring.

That's pretty much all the info contained in the press release announcing the signing, aside from already widely known fact that the band — featuring Dan Phillips on guitar, Nikki Cage on bass and Tim “Slim” Starks on drums — is again working with producer Matt Pence up at the Echo Lab (just outside of Denton) on this release, just as it has for its two previous efforts. On Relapse, the band will join a roster already featuring such notable heavy bands as Baroness, Black Tusk, Pig Destroyer and Dying Fetus.

It should be noted, too, that this will be the band's third label in as many releases, as the band's 2008 self-titled debut was released on End Sounds and its 2011 epic, As High As The Highest Heavens And From The Center To The Circumference Of The Earth, was released through Kemado Records.

You'll have a bit to wait to congratulate the band in person, though. Tomorrow, the band kicks off a quick four-date jaunt through Louisiana, Alabama and Georgia before returning to town for a homecoming gig at Denton's Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios on Saturday, January 26.

Not familiar with this phenomenal local outfit? You should be. Familiarize yourself by checking out the great video for their sophomore record's lead single, “Skull Eyes,” below.
