Dallas Entertainer Alyssa Edwards To Appear on Season Five of RuPaul's Drag Race.
The fifth season of RuPaul's Drag Race is set to debut on Logo on the 28th of this month, which, aside from being good news in and of itself, is also important because of this bit: Dallas drag queen Alyssa Edwards has been cast in this season of the reality show in which drag queens compete to see who's the most fabulous.
This, of course, is pretty huge news in the area LGBTQ community — and, well, to anyone who likes good TV, to be honest. It's been three years since North Texas has been represented on the show; that year, Fort Worth's Mystique Summers and the late Dallas-born Sahara Davenport both appeared on the show, although neither made it past the halfway point in the season.
Edwards, we expect, will fare better. The ex-pageant star hails from Mesquite and is a staple entertainer in Dallas nightlife. She's a regular performer at S4's Rose Room, and you may have seen her roaming around at other locations such as It'll Do or possibly even in one of those pageants she competes in.
And, gotta say, she's a pretty excellent performer — even if that's not necessarily a good indicator for success on Drag Race. Typically, the queens with pageant experience don't en up impressing the judges in the end.
Maybe this time will be different? Hopefully.
