Before Shipping Off For The Bay Area, Dallas Rapper -Topic Followed Sets From His Friends With A More Than Two-Hour-Long Performance At His Goodbye Bash at Trees.

Despite all of the advanced promotions that indicated otherwise, it turns out that last night’s “Peace Out Party” for Dallas rapper -topic at Trees will not, in fact, be the rapper’s final performance before he takes off for California’s Bay Area next month.
That final effort, best as we can tell anyway, will actually take place tomorrow night, as the rapper performs as part of the three-year anniversary party for the Oak Cliff bookstore and coffeehouse The Wild Detectives.
Still, there’s no doubt that Thursday night’s bash was indeed at least intended to be -topic’s big goodbye and was treated as such. This ostensibly City of Dallas-presented affair — although, honestly, we’ve yet to receive a single coherent explanation as to what, if anything, the “City of Dallas presents” tag thrown in front of every mention of this party actually meant — featured a whole slew of Dallas’ finest doing their finest to help send -topic off. Among those who made brief appearances on stage during this night were Blue, the Misfit; Bobby Sessions; Sealion; Medicine Man Revival; Koolquise and Trai Bo — and that’s not counting the plethora of familiar faces spread out among the venue, each of them kicking it during what felt like as inner-circle music scene a setting as this town’s seen since the Dallas Observer Music Awards last fall. Medicine Man Revival in particular shined in this setting, but so too did the man of the hour himself, who performed earnestly and energetically for more than two hours on this night to close the proceedings.
It was a long goodbye, but it was a happy one. And photographer Karlo X. Ramos was on hand to capture it all for the above slideshow. Check out his photos to relive the night.
