On The McKinney Pool Party, Life Wisdom Received at Concerts and The Promise of Joey Gallo.
Welcome to the This Is Dallas podcast, where our weekly focus is the City of Dallas and all interesting things happening around it. Wanna subscribe to it on iTunes? You can do so right here. Also, peep the archives here.
Something of a disclaimer before we get started: Seems this week's recording suffers some from static of an unknown origin. Our apologies about that; we'll get it fixed by next week, I'm sure. In the meantime, just give this week's episode a listen while imagining that you're listening to us on AM radio.
It'll bring some charm to the affair, I think.
Either way, it's worth fighting through the white noise, I think, as this week's episode kicks off with me catching my co-host, Mike Marshall, up on some breaking news about a teenage pool party in McKinney gone bad and the footage taken at that event during which a cop can be seen using some serious force on a young girl and pulling a gun on two concerned, onlooking young boys. I'd been following the story since it broke; Mike not so much. In turn, we just let the video play and capture Mike's live reaction. Then, like the rest of the media is sure to do this week, we try to make sense of what we watched.
From there, the talking points lighten some as we discuss some words of wisdom Mike overheard at a concert in Deep Ellum this weekend and openly wonder about the potential of exciting young Texas Rangers call-up Joey Gallo.
So, y'know, hit play already.
