It’s that time of year again, when Twitter users worldwide begin to discover that reindeer are real animals and not just magical Christmas beasts. Also known as caribou, the hoofed creatures do live, breathe and graze, though they don’t, to my knowledge, fly.

The Book of Mormon at Winspear Opera House
The Book of Mormon, a musical trip into the heart of America’s unique homegrown religion from the creators of South Park, has won countless awards, sold out everywhere its gone and is absolutely hysterical. If you waited until now, to buy tickets, though, you’ve probably missed your opportunity to purchase any at face value. Hey, you can always pay the steep markup added by ticket brokers like Stubhub. There are certainly worse things in the world to spend your money on. The collection plate, perhaps? — Stephen Young
Mistletoe Magic at Dallas City Performance Hall
Choreography from Bruce Wood, Kimi Nikaidoh, Joy Bollinger and Albert Drake will ornament holiday songs sung by Broadway stars Liz Callaway, Hugh Panaro and Joseph Thalken. — CG
Holiday Inn at The Magnolia
Bing Crosby singing “White Christmas” seems like it has happened every December since the beginning of time. But it hasn’t. It didn’t become a holiday tradition until he wrote it for this 1942 Fred Astaire movie. — CG
Christmas at the Meyerson at Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center
Classics from Hollywood score king John Williams all the way back to Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker will make your days merry and/or bright. — CG
All ‘90s Everything at RBC
Even cooler than simply another all ‘90s DJ night, this edition of the habitual themed party will feature a DJ set from Spinderella. — CG
Why Him at Alamo Drafthouse (Richardson)
Bryan Cranston and James Franco’s prank war movie gets the advanced screening treatment here. After the film, a Q&A with those guys and the rest of the cast — Megan Mullally, Zoey Deutch and Keegan-Michael Key – will be piped in via live stream. — CG
