Historically speaking, more marriages take place in June than in any other month. That much makes sense to some degree. According to some etymologists, the month even derives its name from Juno, the goddess of marriage.
But the more we think about it, the more we start to notice that it is not just romantic unions that are prevalent this month. Rather, we're being bombarded with all kinds of “new beginnings.”
OK, so it may be a stretch to compare the number of new bars and restaurants opening up this week to marriages. But, point is, we've got a lot of anniversaries to celebrate this month.
This week alone, Deep Ellum's Ferralog recording studios celebrates its paper anniversary and Uptown eatery The Common Table celebrates its third year of existence. And, by opening their doors in the coming days and weeks, Highland Park taco joint Chiladas and Deep Ellum destinations The Twilite Room and The Green Room looks to join the fold of local joints with June anniversaries.
