Get The Jump On Your 3/11 – 3/17 Plans.
As promised, there's a badass national show almost every night this week — thanks, in large part, to bands using us a warm-up for South by Southwest.
Hey, it could be worse. We could be missing these shows altogether.
Dr. Dog, who performed on the main stage at the then-called 35 Conferette last year are now competing directly with the festival for a crowd with their Sunday night show at Granada. Later in the week and in non-music related news, the actors who play Jay and Silent Bob will be speaking over at House of Blues. Oh, and there will be a pretty baller art show starting Thursday.
Then the week ends with one of Dallas' biggest, day-drunkiest parties of the year.
You ready?
Sunday (3.11)
Dr. Dog at Granada Theater
This Philly band are one of those super tight indie groups that could be from the '60s.
Monday (3.12)
Kaiser Chiefs at House of Blues
The Brit rockers are finally making good on that show they canceled a few months back.
Tuesday (3.13)
Jay and Silent Bob Get Old at House of Blues
Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes record a live version of their popular podcast.
Neon Indian and Purity Ring at Granada Theater
Let's take acid and hit up the Granada! Maybe just the second part.
Oral Fixation: An Obsession With True Life Tales at The McKinney Avenue Contemporary
Kind of like The Double Wide's confession box nights — but perhaps just a touch classier, if only because it's in a theater. This month's theme: One night stands. Juicy!
Wednesday (3.14)
Lucero at Trees
Their crowds drink like it's a country show and dance like it's a punk show. It gets rowdy.
Free yoga at Exhale Spa
Stretch it out.
Thursday (3.15)
Vinyl Thoughts art show at Quixotic World
We've been anticipating this show ever since that badass NES-themed mural first went up on the side of the building in Deep Ellum.
Friday (3.16)
Cirque du Burlesque!
The acrobatics of Cirque du Soleil meets the eye candy of a burlesque show. What's not to like here, seriously?
Saturday (3.17)
Greenville Avenue St. Patrick's Day Parade and Concert
Thanks to Mark Cuban, the drunken Dallas tradition continues on for another year! Hats off to you, Cubes.
