Get The Jump On Your 3/4 – 3/10 Plans.
There are tons of strong concert offerings this week — a trend that should continue into next week thanks, in part, to pre- and post-SXSW spillover.
The biggest of these shows, of course, is Radiohead at the AAC on Monday night. And then there's a little four-day music festival going down in Denton over the weekend that'll bring a couple hundred killer bands into the Metroplex.
Oh, and if music's not your thing and you're looking to expand your horizons in the visual or culinary arts areas, there are a pair of classes at La Grange and Veritas, respectively, for just that.
Sunday (3.4)
Roll your own Sushi Rolls Class at Veritas
Let the good times roll!
Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art Class at La Grange
The one thing that might have made us appreciate that life-drawing class we took in college — aside from better looking models — would've been if it were in a less awkward environment. Oh yeah, and if booze was involved.
Monday (3.5)
Radiohead at American Airlines Center
Have you heard of these guys? We hear good things about them.
Tuesday (3.6)
The Big Movie at Magnolia Theatre
This week's showing? North by Northwest. We see what they did there.
Wednesday (3.7)
Wild Child at City Tavern
We once heard the term “perfect-pitch” defined as being able to toss a ukulele into a garbage can without hitting the rim. This Austin indie-folk outfit prominently features the oft-mocked instrument in charming ways, though.
Pokey-O's 6th Anniversary
$1 ice cream sandwiches for all!
Thursday (3.8)
Fourth Annual 35 Denton Festival
Starts today and runs through the end of the weekend. Expect lots of coverage here on Central Track.
Jenny Owen Youngs at Dada
Fun fact: The Regina Spektor protege is from the same small New Jersey town as underground hero R. Stevie Moore.
Friday (3.9)
Girls and Unknown Mortal Orchestra at Granada Theater
Unknown Mortal Orchestra were one of the biggest come-from-nowhere bands of last year, riding a wave a buzz built on one of 2011's best albums.
Saturday (3.10)
Kristy Kruger at AllGood Cafe
The local singer-songwriter recently appeared on “This American Life.” Check that out here, in case you missed it. Then catch her set over at AllGood while enjoying a nice bowl of rock-a-mole.
