In his final Letterman appearance last week, comedian Norm Macdonald joked about how we've gone from a society of people that has maybe one picture of our great grandparents to one that will be leaving behind photographic evidence to their progeny of everything they've ever done.

Or maybe not. There's a few reasons to believe the smartphone backlash has already begun. Take The Light Phone, for instance, a new type of mobile phone that's designed to be used as little as possible.

Perhaps you might want to stay ahead of the curve, then, by being more social in real life and keeping your nose out of your phone a bit. In an emoji-free world, though, you'll have to meet up with friends in person to catch up on things.
