Drop It Like It's Hot.
As we pointed out yesterday the surge of erotic entertainment this time of year is a pretty fair indicator as to what seems to be on everybody's minds this week. All that's somewhat understandable; Valentine's Day does funny things to some people.
Just try to keep your hormones in check tonight. If your raging desires cause any flights to be diverted, roads to be closed, government institutions shut down, or concerts to be shut down prematurely, that's on you.
Thin Line Festival in Denton
Like a little film with your music? Sure, we've mentioned it before, but Denton's Thin Line Festival is aiming itself right at you. Sebadoh is headlining, and a bunch of locals — among them Booty Fade, Daniel Markham, Jenny Robinson and Fungi Girls — are playing support at various venues across the college town. The previously film-exclusive event is charging $150 for all-access passes, and $75 for music- or film-only passes. Just wanna see Sebadoh? If you hurry, you can score pre-sale tickets to just that show for the low cost of $15 right here. — Pete Freedman
Snoop Dogg at House of Blues
Never has the cut “Who Am I (What's My Name)” off of Snoop's 1993 debut album been more relevant than it is today. While this show is being billed as Snoop playing “all the hits,” tonight's poster also includes the disclaimer “aka Snoop Lion” underneath his other name. So what will it be Mr. Dogg? Will tonight be all “Gin and Juice” or a healthy dose of that which you pass off as reggae? — Cory Graves
The Pack A.D. at Dan's Silverleaf
Now that it's 2014 can we call a moratorium on comparing every guitar and drum duo to the White Stripes, OK? OK, good. The lone exception to that rule, of course, would be the Black Keys, who Jack White personally accused as much last year. Hey, he's got a point: Black Keys' Dan Auerbach did relocate to Nashville shortly after White did, not to mention putting his kid in the same school. And we won't even bring up things like ripping of the band's name and/or music. Vancouver garage-rock duo The Pack A.D., though, aren't really cut from that cloth at all. — Cory Graves
Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament (Season 3 Kickoff)
This is exactly what it sounds like. Every Wednesday, you can play some Rock-Paper-Scissors, dominate the competition and win cold hard cash. Oh, and well drinks are on sale for a buck each. — Erika Lambreton
