Prepare To Die.
Drew Ackerman just might be the world's most boring person.
Since starting his Sleep With Me podcast two years ago, he's figured out he could put even the most extreme insomniacs to sleep in 20 minutes or less with nothing but his boring old voice.
A good sleep aid? You betcha. But it's unequivocally not something you should sample until you're good and ready to hit the hay for the night.
We're guessing, from the looks of everything going on tonight, that might not be for a while.
Welcome to Your Funeral at Kessler Theater
Last year, former Rigor Mortis vocalist Bruce Corbitt wrote and directed a full-length documentary on his old band that'll make its premiere at tonight's screening. Per early reports, the film tells the story of the band's rise from the area's underground '80s thrash scene to becoming the first metal band from the area signed to a major label, and features cameos from old area metalheads like Phil Anselmo.
Preservation Hall Jazz Band at Meyerson Symphony Center
Kicking around since the early '60s, New Orleans' own Preservation Hall Jazz Band will be kicking it at the Meyerson (sans the DSO, sorry) for two nights. So, if you feel like funkin' up your holidays, welp, this would be the place.
Lil Texas at Rio Room
Though he currently resides in Los Angeles, underground electronic producer Lil Texas will be back home for the holidays or, more specifically, this holiday-themed underground dance party. He'll be joined by Booty Thrill, Skrause and the rest of the fam. No squares.
Song Swap Soiree at The Live Oak
In lieu of the standard three fools on stools format found at most song swaps, this one will feature a heaping helping of 817's best songwriters. Andy Pickett, Charley Crockett, Kenny Uptain, Cameron Matthew Ray, Nicholad Altobelli, Matthew Gray and Sammy Strittmatter will all be there trying to put the “X” back in X-mas.
