Get Out Your Chains! (Preferably Two of Them.)
Do you like hip-hop? If so, tonight's your night. At the House of Blues, 2Chainz will be on hand getting you all hyped up. Need a more socially conscious vibe? Saul Williams is on hand to bring just that over at Sons of Hermann Hall. Hate hip-hop? Hey, that's OK, too. Shout out how much you hate it over in Fort Worth while watching a bad movie. Or maybe riff on it at tonight's free open mic at the Dallas Comedy House. Or you can let your anger about it out while rocking out at an industrial show at Trees. Or, I guess, you could go check out some pumpkins for no good reason at all!
2 Chainz at House of Blues
Georgia rapper Tauheed Epps (aka 2 Chainz) makes a stop on his “Based on a T.R.U. Story” tour tonight in Dallas at the House of Blues. 2 Chainz already made a stop here in town back in July, when he opened up for Nicki Minaj. Now, he gets to headline his own show.
Saul Willliams at House of Blues
Currently on tour right now promoting his new book, Chorus: A Literary Mixtape, Saul Williams is certainly a jack of all trades. The poet, musician, actor and writer has worked with Trent Reznor, acted with Kevin Spacey, performed spoken word at the BET Awards and helped write Slam, the movie that won the 1998 Sundance Festival Grand Jury Prize. And you can't even find the time to work some crunches into your daily workout routine. Ugh. You're the worst.
Wondercrust Movie Watchers Club Presents Prehistoric Women at The Grotto
If you've wished you could see a French B-movie featuring Amazon women and time travel while drinking and heckling loudly, Wondercrust Movie Watchers Club is here to answer your prayers with their presentation of Prehistoric Women at The Grotto. Go get silly drunk and toss popcorn into the hair of the loudest, most annoying person in attendance. Talking (and maybe even some brief yelling) during the film is encouraged.
My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult at Trees
Everyone's favorite industrial rock band, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, decided to come on down to Dallas to celebrate the release of Sinister Whisperz – The Wax Trax! Years, their new compilation album. Make sure to bring your best leather/dungeon dominatrix gear to this one.
Autumn at the Dallas Arboretum
Are you in the mood for a lot of pumpkins? Like, seriously, a lot of pumpkins? The Dallas Arboretum starts its Autumn festivities today with new seasonal plant life and its centerpiece, Cinderella's Pumpkin Village. You'll see about 1,200 pumpkins and gourds decorating each house of that village. That should be enough to fulfill your pumpkin (and gourd) desires for the entirety of autumn.
Open Mic Night at Dallas Comedy House
It's Tuesday, which means you've got another chance to support your local amateur comics with sincere giggles or supportive (and falsified) stifled laughs at the Dallas Comedy House's Open Mic Night. Remember: It's free and starts at 8 p.m.
