Add Some Heavy Metal to Your Tuesday with Down at Trees.
Enjoy the new September weather (read: cold) by visiting some local events indoors tonight. Perhaps your trunk from the Trunk Club will contain only scarves? Maybe the 200-year-old cask of beer at The Old Monk will warm your soul? Or maybe the heater at Trees will be turned up just a hair? Just throw on some autumn apparel and get out there.
Down at Trees
“I would really love to see a heavy metal supergroup fronted by Phil Anselmo of Pantera perform sometime soon, preferably in the Deep Ellum area of Dallas,” you casually mention over the phone to your mother. “Well, you're in luck!” she exclaims. And she's right: Down, featuring New Orleans native and one-time Dallas resident Anselmo as vocalist, will be breaking speakers at Trees tonight. Doors are at 7 p.m.
Oktoberfest Kickoff at The Old Monk
Fans of German sausage, beer and subsequent drunken singing, rejoice! The Old Monk will be bringing in a supposedly 200-year-old cask of beer from Germany to commemorate the beginning of this year's Oktoberfest, and they'll be offering 24 oz. ceramic steins (that you can keep!) filled with ancient beer for $15 starting at 8 p.m.
Trunk Club men's clothing event at Village Marquee Texas Grill and Bar
Trunk Club, an online service that offers high-end men's clothing chosen by your own personal stylist to be mailed to you in your own trunk, is throwing a party at Village Marquee Texas Grill and Bar tonight. If the thrill of polite men's wear is not nearly enough for you, the event is to be hosted by Dallas athletes Kyle Orton and Mike Modano, who will probably be playing games such as “Guess What's In the Trunk?” and “Pin the Trunk on the Donkey.”
Open Mic Night at Dallas Comedy House
Practice your guffaws and chortles and fulfill your dreams of being on a Hollywood laugh-track for a b-rate television sitcom series by going to the Dallas Comedy Club for Open Mic night this evening and laughing (with or at) amateur comics.
