Take a Warped Ride with The Sword at Rubber Gloves.
It's the day before Halloween, and maybe you need a break from all the ghosts and goblins and spooky-themed parties that you've been going to. Luckily, today offers a break from all of that. Enjoy a zombie-less show at either La Grange, the House of Blues or Rubber Gloves. Or just check out your favorite bar and watch the game. Embrace your break from witches and vampires until tomorrow, when you'll be bound to endure a few bad costumes on coworkers and a handful of screaming children demanding candy.
Motion City Soundtrack at House of Blues
Alterna-pop group Motion City Soundtrack will be filling the large stage of the House of Blues tonight. Opening up are bands Jukebox the Ghost and Now, Now — two acts definitely worth catching if you're headed this way, so be sure to get here early. Doors at 7 p.m.
Dallas Mavericks' First Game of the Season
This isn't an event that is happening in Dallas per se, but the Dallas Mavericks will be playing their first game of the season tonight out at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Tipoff for this one is at 9:30 p.m., which kind of makes this game a perfect excuse for hanging out at your favorite sports bar.
Poor Moon at La Grange
If you were looking for a band with gratuitous use of xylophone, look no further: Poor Moon will be performing (with an opening set from Dallas' own Jacob Metcalf) tonight at La Grange. If you're in the mood for a nice, laid-back show, this is where you should find yourself. Doors at 7 p.m.
The Sword at Rubber Gloves
Hard rockers The Sword perform tonight in Denton. A surprisingly blade-less group, the band instead uses rock music as their weapon of choice to deliver good, old-school riffs. Eagle Claw and Gypsy Hawk open up the night, presumably with a birds-of-prey-like demonstration. Doors at 8 p.m.
