Tie The Room Together.
Bad news, gamers: As of today, Nintendo is discontinuing Wi-Fi functionality for its games Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers Brawl and most of the Pokemon franchise.
So staying in and playing your video games? Well, it just got a little less cool.
Instead of crying your eyes out about it, though, why don't you just go out and have some fun tonight in the real world?
Castle at Three Links
With San Francisco metalheads Castle releasing its third album Under Siege today, tonight's Dallas show will serve as an album release show, of sorts. The album, which is currently streaming in-full here, is full of heart-wrenching madness. Similarly blistering North Texas acts Mountain of Smoke and Black Summit open. — Ashley Gongora
A Giant Dog at Lola's
Austin garage punk outfit A Giant Dog is set to wreck the Fort with its headlining set at Lola's tonight's. Fun fact: The band's Orville Neeley is a Jack-of-all-trades, splitting his time with a couple other locally-tied outfits (read: Bad Sports and OBN IIIs), as well as producing records for other bands and serving as the sound guy at Austin's Beerland venue. No matter what he's doing, his over-the-top antics have been well-documented over the years. War Party, Sealion, Street Arabs and Reno Divorce open. — AG
Gipsy Kings at Strauss Square
You may be familiar with the Gipsy Kings. If not entirely, then perhaps slightly. Its take on The Eagles' “Hotel California” was featured in The Big Lebowski and Entourage, among other places. The band also did a Spanish version of “You've Got A Friend In Me” for Toy Story 3. Here's the funny thing: Though the soulful mariachi-esque strummers sing their tunes in Spanish, they're actually from Southern France. Hey, whatever romantic language moves you, I guess. Oh, and remember, this stop on the band's 25th anniversary tour is BYOB. — H. Drew Blackburn
The Big Lebowski Quote-a-Long at Alamo Drafthouse
Speaking of The Dude: Tonight at Alamo, they'll be showing a special quote-a-long version of everybody's favorite stoner-dude-mystery-comedy hybrid — as if you needed the added subtitles to quote the ever-loving hell out of this thing. For our money, it's the Coen Brothers' best film, Fargo be damned. Also worth noting: White Russians will be just $5 tonight. — Jordyn Walters
