Play It East Coast Style with Jersey Boys at the Winspear Opera House.
Remember how hot it was last year? Everyone was always talking about “record-breaking heat” while simultaneously melting into little car puddles during their afternoon commute. Children played indoors. Sunbathers went for the shade as the sun triumphantly reigned supreme.
Oh, I remember it well.
While we're not quite at that point yet, we're starting to get pretty close. I say, to celebrate the heat (or, more accurately, to survive it), you should head indoors for tonight's activities. Enjoy the musical stylings of the Four Seasons (or the actors playing the Four Seasons) with the musical Jersey Boys at the Winspear. For Tuesday Night Trash, you can see Five Element Ninjas at the Texas Theater. Or, if you want to go a little more mainstream, From Russia with Love is playing at the Magnolia.
Five Element Ninjas at Texas Theater
It's Tuesday Night Trash at the Texas Theater. Tonight, Tsau Chin Hau is on a mission to exact revenge on supreme ninja Cheng Yun for the slaughter of his colleagues, and the only thing stopping him from reaching his nemesis are the five elemental ninjas. Death battles ensue.
Open Mic at Dallas Comedy House
Standup is a difficult gig, but, thanks to the power of the open mic, comedy rubes can give their best shot at entertaining. While it might not be as hilarious as a professional comedian's show, there's a whole different form of entertainment that comes from an open mic. So bring your friend who fancies his mayonnaise jokes “hi-lar-ious” and sit back and enjoy.
Jersey Boys at Winspear Opera House
It's hard to imagine that Jersey Boys is the 25th longest-running show on Broadway, since it feels like just recently that it was sweeping the Tony Awards. The Four Seasons were a big act back in the day, so naturally the musical about the band would be equally grandoise.
From Russia with Love at Magnolia Theater
Released in 1963, From Russia with Love would go on to be one of the highest-regarded Bond films. For those unfamiliar with the Bond series (there have to be a few of you, right?) this is a great movie for you to use to get acquainted. For the larger number of you that are already die-hard Bond fans, you were probably already planning on seeing this movie, anyway.
K. Flay at House of Blues
The last time she was in Dallas, K. Flay was touring with Grieves & Budo, and even while opening for their awesome performance, she still managed to impress. This time, she's headlining her own tour, so surely we'll see some new material.
