Get Yacht and Sweaty with Us at Sundown!
Yesterday's lower temperatures were pretty great. The overcast skies, though? That was a littler depressing. And, for better or worse, it looks like there's not going to be much of a change in the weather system over the course of the next few days.
But, while you may be tempted to curl up with your favorite blanket and movie, hiding away on your couch, we implore you: Don't give up on the week just yet.
Why you ask? Because tonight we're throwing our second annual Yacht Rock-themed throwdown — this time at Sundown at Granada. If our last one was any indication, tonight's party should be quite the blast.
So don your favorite yacht rock-themed duds and join us tonight as we set sail on the sea of smooth.
Yacht Rock Party at Sundown
Put on your Sperry's and your favorite pair of pastel-colored shorts, and head over to Sundown as we present a screening of the entire (and entirely brilliant) web series, Yacht Rock. After the show, Dallas' finest Hall & Oates tribute act, The Rich Girls, will perform and DJ Blake Ward will spin all the yacht rock classics you know and love on the sound system downstairs. — Stephen Young
Shy, Low at Dada
Sometimes, all the vocal histrionics and overwrought lyrics just get a little old, y'know? If you agree with that sentiment, tonight's show at Dada is for you. Virginia instrumental post-rockers Shy, Low headline with local support from another vocals-free act, Things of Earth. — SY
The Light Crust Doughboys at Pocket Sandwich Theatre
The band that launched the careers of Texas swing pioneers like Bob Wills and Milton Brown is now celebrating its 80th year as a band and 20th year playing shows at Pocket Sandwich Theatre. As expected, the legendary troupe has gone through too many lineup changes to count, but the current incarnation includes Charley Pride's son Dion and Wills' cousin Randy. — Cory Graves
Tuesday Tease at Sue Ellen's
Sure, there are plenty of other weekly drag events that go on in this town. But none of them quite hold a candle to the Tuesday night weekly at this two-story, predominantly lesbian bar. Enjoy the go-go and line dancing all you want. But it's the burlesque queens and drag kings that truly rule. — CG
