Viva Los Violadores.
Back in the '80s, noted a capella musician Bobby McFerrin ear-wormed his way into America's hearts with a simple bit of advice: “Don't worry,” he sang on his 1988 No. 1 hit song, “be happy.” These days, Mr. McFerrin has some even better advice: Don't worry, be Yonce.
Speaking of advice, we've got a bit of our own to offer up, too: Don't worry about the fact that it's Tuesday; there's always lots going on in a place like Dallas.
And, unlike McFerrin's message, ours is one that we don't anticipate changing anytime soon.
Tuesday Night Trash: Mad Foxes at Texas Theatre
A band of murderous Nazi bikers are at the heart of this exceptionally awful 1981 Spanish exploitation/revenge flick, which is known for its gratuitous gore and nudity and positively terrible dialogue. It sounds like it might just be the worst thing ever screened at a TNT event, which is really saying something.
Dallas Stars vs Columbus Blue Jackets at American Airlines Center
The Stars are 0-4-1 in the second night of back-to-back games this season, a trend that held true in Sunday night's loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. Still, it was a game the team felt it should have won, and maybe they've got a point. They did blow four leads in that game against one of the best team's in the league. Still, the Stars have been playing much better of late, and with last night off, they should fair much better against the Blue Jackets tonight.
The Future Funk Lounge at Sundown (Free)
Joining Future Funk's resident DJs Mikey Rodge and Jumbii this week will be The DJ vs Violin, which is exactly what it sounds like. Tonight, violinist Sharla Marie Franklin will provide live accompaniment to the mix of dream pop and electronic mixed bag of DJ S.O.U.L.Jah. The future is now.
Comedy Open Mic Night at Dallas Comedy House
Somewhere out there, there is a VHS tape of you being caught off guard by the prompt to “Say something funny!” Well, you blew it. You froze. But it's OK. We've all been there before. And, thanks to Dallas Comedy House's Tuesday night open mics you've now got the perfect venue in which to redeem yourself. Or, you know, just to watch that one guy who totally thinks he's the funniest guy in the office bomb magnificently.
