Hope You Have The Time of Your Life.
Christmas time is over basically, but the holidays ain't over yet. There are currently 44 college students at HBCU's celebrating Kwanzaa for the first and last time. Then we've got New Year's Eve and New Year's Day right around the corner.
To fill in the little period of the last few days of the year, we've got a few activities for you to do.
Classic Cult is headlining a show at Spinster Records, Hayes Carll has a sold-out show a hop and a skip away at the Kessler. Better Than Ezra is looking to rock out the House of Blues and Le Cure plays all of our favorite Cure covers.
But, last and not least, the last-ever '90s night goes down tonight at Hailey's before the venue shuts down.
It'll be a wild night.
Hayes Carll at the Kessler Theater (Sold Out)
Hayes Carll is strong. Very strong? What type of strong, well, he's country strong. Carll had the honor and pleasure of having four songs on the Country Strong soundtrack, which was a massive success. You can catch the country folk artist tonight if you're one of the lucky ticket holders, as its sold out. But, we're not at all gonna judge if you paid a gazillion bucks for a resale on Craigslist.
Better Than Ezra at House of Blues
Imagine that band you formed back in college stayed together for over two decades and toured the world. That's Better Than Ezra's story. The band formed in the late 80s at LSU, and has been going pretty strong ever since. It's safe to say, the alt rockers have done quite good for themselves.
Classic Cult at Spinster Records (Free)
Spinster Records has been a very faithful brick and mortar location for great shows featuring local acts. Tonight, they've got three bands on the bill that formed just this year and one of them is performing their first show ever. It's Classic Cult, Vegan Shark and Acid Carousal, which is popping its Dallas live show cherry.
Le Cure at the Granada
Cover bands are a dime a dozen. Great ones, however, are a little bit more difficult to come across. This is a true ailment and we've got a cure for you, a double dosage. Tonight at the Granada, you've got Le Cure, a cure cover band and Thin White Duke's, a David Bowie cover band. The past is alive and well here.
The Last '90s Night at Hailey's Club
After 12 years, Hailey's, which was once one of Denton's best venues, is closing come the new year. For quite some time, they've had 90s night every Tuesday. This is where shit gets weird, sweaty and fun with all of your favorite tunes from the decade of 90210 and Ma$e. Hailey's deserves a proper send off and this is surely one of the last chances to do it, with dirt cheap drinks to boot.
