Be Flawless with Perfect Pussy.
Just because we haven't traditionally celebrated Boxing Day here in the States doesn't mean we can't start doing it this year. I mean, sure, not too many of us really have servants to give gift boxes to these days, but we can always just reappropriate the name, right? A holiday wherein one gets to, without consequence, box the living crap out of one person each year sounds pretty thrilling, no?
Honestly, we'd be happy with just about anything US Boxing Day could turn into — aside from a Black Friday sequel.
Just know that, however you choose to celebrate today, your Boxing Day will totally kick ass.
Stage Fright: Denton Does The Band at Twilite Lounge
If you missed it when a slew of Denton notables banded together to cover the catalog of Canada's greatest Americana outfit at Dan's Silverleaf a few weeks back, just know that they'll be giving a repeat performance tonight at this low-key Dallas spot. Among tonight's performers are Centro-matic's Scott Danbom, Satans of Soft Rock's Tony Ferraro, Descender's Jeffery Gruber and both members of RTB2. — Cory Graves
A Special Vibe at Beauty Bar
In a not-at-all-strange turn of events, DJ Colly T has cooked up yet another rather interesting edition of his Thursday night weekly tonight. The DJ's Dropclock crew, which also includes DJs Slightly and Squidoo, will battle with Colly T's Thursday night predecessor, Ynfynyt Scroll, and the rest of his Track Meet crew here. The good thing is that, when DJs battle, most everybody wins. — CG
Perfect Pussy at Three Links
The name Perfect Pussy, according to this band's frontwoman Meredith Graves, makes anybody looking to judge this band based on the singer's appearance or the fact that she's a woman know from the get-go they should just go ahead and fuck off. That attitude seems to have worked, helping these Syracuse noise punks score a record deal, a U.S. tour, and a shit-ton of internet buzz on the strength of but a single four-track demo. Equally challenging Denton acts Bukkake Moms, Bludded Head and Orgullo Primitivo open. — CG
The Funeral Party's One-Year Anniversary at The Church
The Church, for those of you who somehow don't know, is the enduring goth-inclined entity of the Lizard Lounge. And, for the past year, it's been DJs Keith P and Anthony Social of The Funeral Party who've helmed The Church's Thursday night editions. They celebrate their version of this party turning a year old tonight, with some help from local goth punks Cutter, who'll perform a live set as part of the festivities. — Pete Freedman
