Embrace Your Inner Tycho.
Here's something mildly fascinating that we didn't know existed before today: a live stream of search terms from one of the world's largest porn sites.
Vile as it is, it is oddly mesmerizing.
Then again, seeing phrases like “diaper pooping girls” scroll by make us want to quit the internet altogether. But, for most of us, swearing off the computer just isn't feasible. Your job probably requires it in some capacity.
Nobody says you can't take a break from it for the night, though. What's say we all power down the porn machines and clear our heads — and browser histories! — tonight?
Speaking of which, here are a few places to do just that. — Cory Graves
Idiot Glee at Three Links
James Friley's music gets called a lot of things, from lo-fi electro-pop to an updated take on the Beach Boys' Smile sessions to the kind of thing perfectly suited to soundtrack a Tarantino film. It's enough to have earned Friley a reputation as a “cool Mormon.” Anyway, our favorite ever attempt to describe the man's Idiot Glee output comes from The Guardian, who put it thusly: “We're sure it wasn't deliberate on his part when it came to picking a name for his solo project, but James Friley, who is Idiot Glee, does make music that could be out-takes from Glee performed by an insular, depressed idiot savant.” — CG
Tycho at Granada Theater
Unlike his first couple of Tycho albums, photographer and graphic designer Scott Hansen employed a three-piece band while recording March's Awake LP. By all accounts, Tycho's brand of warm, ambient electro-pop is the perfect soundtrack to a summer evening. Lucky for you, then, the band's Dallas stop comes before the leaves have begun to turn. — CG
Monday Night Football Watch Party at Henderson Tap House
Are you ready for some football? We hope so, because it's here to take over every bar you frequent. Every Monday, members of the Cowboys will be at Henderson Tap House. Tonight, you can get krunk with defensive end Tyrone Crawford and linebacker Kyle Wilbur, who are probably riding high after helping the 'Boys win their second straight game. — CG
Drink Play Love at Fairmont Hotel
Here's a chance to live out your own personal Julia Roberts fantasy tonight without having to go through the hassle of trekking all the way to India. Or something like that. What we mean to say is there will be free yoga and cocktails at the Fairmount Hotel tonight at 6:30 p.m. courtesy of Solermo blood orange liqueur — provided, that is, if you RSVP here in advance. — CG
