Get the Update with Seth Meyers.
Congratulations, those of you who are out of town for the week! Enjoy your Thanksgiving!
The rest of you — probably working either a nine-to-five or so broke that the thought of traveling to McKinney makes you squirm — shouldn't fret! There are still things to do tonight in Dallas! Some people might have bailed, but that doesn't mean they didn't bail on some cool things.
The coolest of those things: Weekend Update anchor Seth Meyers will be at the University of Texas at Arlington tonight, and he's speaking for free! He's definitely worth your time, given his accomplishments. And the price tag is no deterrent at all!
An Evening with Seth Meyers at UTA
Saturday Night Live head writer and Weekend Update anchor Seth Meyers will be at UTA tonight as part of the school's free speaker series. We have no doubt that his offering will be very insightful — but you can also bank on this being pretty funny, too.
Ryan Hamilton at Opening Bell Coffee
You might know him from either of his two projects, Smile Smile or People on Vacation, but this time Ryan Hamilton's playing solo. Actually, scratch that. Bowling for Soup bassist Erik Chandler will also be there!
Matisyahu at House of Blues
Matisyahu is kind of hard to box genre-wise, but, for the most part, his reggae-offshoot has gone over pretty well in the United States, what with his 2005 single “King Without a Crown” breaking into the Top 40 and all. I don't know if you remember the popular music of 2005, but let's just say that this was definitely a feat for a non-traditional artist.
Cool Womb, Featherface and Pageantry at Hailey's Club in Denton
If you're curious at all about a band with the name Cool Womb: They're a an amalgamation of experimental sounds grouped from Spooky Folk's Kaleo Kaualoku and Peopleodian's Chris Bryan. Sharing the bill with them tonight are Houston's Featherface and Pageantry.
