Miss Your Uncle Charles with Layzie Bone.
We're not sure what was more disappointing yesterday: the fact that the Super Bowl was so one-sided or the revelation that the Puppy Bowl was actually filmed back in October.
Nothing's ever quite what it seems.
'Tis a good thing, then, that we've got a few chances at redemption tonight.
Malcolm Gladwell at McFarlin Auditorium
In his latest book, David and Goliath, Malcolm Gladwell dissects the pseudo-psychology behind the unlikely victories of society's biggest underdogs. Tonight, as part of Dallas Museum of Art's Arts and Letters Live series, he'll be discussing his latest batch of findings. He'll also be signing copies of the new book after tonight's talk. — Cory Graves
Drank and Drawl at Mudsmith
Finally, the opportunity to hole up and sketch in a coffee shop without fear of embodying a stereotype. For once, there'll be a whole heck of a lot of like-minded doodlers to keep you company. — CG
Layzie Bone at Hailey's
The onetime Bone Thugs-n-Harmony member will be doing his solo thing tonight at the new-look Hailey's as part of his “Perfect Timing” tour. Is it just us or does the timing for this tour seem anything but perfect? Even if you aren't one of the haters that feel like the perfect timing for a Bone Thugs related tour would have been 20 years ago, wouldn't Layzie's tour have seemed much better timed if it weren't exactly two weeks before the rest of the Bone Thugs perform at Trees without him? — CG
Toxic Holocaust at Three Links
Though Toxic Holocaust hails from Portland, it does anything but live up to the pretentious indie rock stereotype that city seems to exude these days. This Reprise Records-signed thrash metal vets typically goes at it so hard that 2013's heavy, punk-tinged effort was considered a bit more toned down than usual. Exhumed, Ramming Speed, Mammoth Grinder and Steel Bearing Hand open. — CG
