Get Loud With Mutemath At Good Records.
Although it's been said many times and in many ways, Mondays aren't really known for being all that awesome. But, despite Mondays' historically poor reputation, we've been noticing an increasing amount of early week activity as of late. Look no further than tonight for your proof. This evening, North Texans can welcome sludge metal act Terminator 2 back from their recent tour, check out an afternoon in-store at Good Records, break some champagne bottles to celebrate Oak Cliff's newest piece of art or beat the heat over at the Gin Mill.
Mutemath at Good Records
Good Records is calling Mutemath's live from the Astroturf in-store this afternoon “an intimate warmup” for their performance at Gexa Energy Pavilion later on in the night. We prefer to think of it as a way to enjoy the Louisiana alt-rockers without being seen at a Linkin Park/Incubus concert.
Terminator 2 at Rubber Gloves
As we were watching the tail lights of Terminator 2's van heading off on tour last week, we began to wonder if they'd ever return and, if not, who would fill that brutal sludge-shaped hole in our hearts. But, as they turned to us and uttered the phrase “I'll be back” in their heavy Austrian accents, we somehow just knew that everything was going to be OK.
Mobius Bench installation reception at Chicken Scratch
Last week, we began to realize that despite the fact we've been calling Large Marge the bridge to nowhere, there are actually all sorts of reasons to venture over to West Dallas. Add one more to that list now that the Mobius Bench has been installed over on Fort Worth Avenue. A reception in its honor is being held tonight at the fried chicken joint Chicken Scratch.
Cool Out Mondays at Gin Mill
What better way to celebrate a sustained stretch of sub 100-degree days than by cooling out to some old school funk and soul grooves courtesy of Tony Schwa and Adam Pickrell? Be warned, however: Shaking ones groove thing even in the cool 90-degree weather will still result in some major sweatage.
