Get Creative.
Do rainy days and Mondays always get you down? The fact that today's both rainy and a Monday must really chap your cheeks then.
But cheer up, buttercup. Here's something that should make you feel a little bit better about your current situation, anyway: With today being Sprinkles' 10th anniversary, they're giving every customer one free cupcake, no strings attached. Happy birthday to you.
And when that sugar rush starts to wear off, here's a few places to keep your happy Monday rolling right along.
Creative Conversation: Music Edition at Dallas City Performance Hall (Free)
Because it's Arts Week, and because, well, music is an art, Mayor Mike and Scoops Wilonksy are co-hosting a free-to-attend panel that will “speak on how to better serve our Arts community in order to attract and retain artist, their supporters and influencers.” Participants on the panel include such nationally-recognized, local music heavyweights as Grammy Award-winning producers John Congleton and Play-N-Skillz, Grammy-winning hook singer Sarah Jaffe and some old dude called Bobby Patterson.
Bob Costas at UTA's College Park Center
Legendary NBC sportscaster Bob Costas will give a talk called “Sports in America: Is it Still Only a Game?” as part of UTA's Maverick Speakers series. We reckon for a guy like Costas, it stopped being a game a long time ago. Dude's racked up 26 Emmys for his baseball, basketball, football, hockey, boxing, golf and Olympics coverage. An autograph session follows.
DOAP at Crown and Harp (Free)
Helping resident DJs Redsean and Colly T celebrate the one-year anniversary of their second Mondays monthly this evening will be special guest DJ Sober. Sounds like a party.
