Clap, Clap, Clap, Clap, Clap, Clap, Clap, Clap, Clap, Dog Show!
Fourth of July is over (see: yesterday) but since it's the weekend, you can get back into the swing of things again in a relatively consequence-free manner.
Hooray! Let's begin the debauchery anew!
If when I say “debauchery” and you say “burlesque,” then you are probably from the '50s. But, weary time traveler, you can enjoy yourself tonight at the Viva Dallas Burlesque Show: Support Our Troops, where the burlesque dancers will support our troops so hard. Also, you can get into some musical debauchery with Convoy and the Cattlemen and Driftin' Outlaw Band tonight at the Double Wide. Meanwhile, today's weirdest offering (and least debaucherous) is probably the Lone Star State Classic Dog Show, where dog lovers go to engage in classist dog judgement. No mutts allowed.
Yoga in the Gallery at the Crow Collection of Asian Art
If you're like us, you've gone to a museum to look at precious artwork and thought to yourself, “Man, I wish I could bend my body all around this exhibit.” Well, your wish has come true: Mats will be provided as you pretzel yourself into a state of zen.
Viva Dallas Burlesque: Support Our Troops
When asked how they will support the troops, The Jigglewatts (it's so hard typing that with a straight face) and the Diamond Bettys responded by saying “We shall remove our clothes in a slow and teasing fashion.” And, voila! A tribute show was born. I'm sure there will be a lot of red, white and blue underpants, but if somebody doesn't get shot out of a cannon, I'll only see it as a wasted opportunity.
Lone Star State Classic Dog Show
I like to imagine dog shows to have the sort of weird, kooky characters that were in the mockumentary Best in Show. I mean, it's gotta take a certain type of person to decide which poodle has the best teeth, right? For today's event, there will be 2,000 dogs entered from all across the US, all competing to see which dog is objectively the best dog.
Convoy and the Cattlemen and Driftin' Outlaw Band at the Double Wide
I hope these two groups always play shows together until the end of time, as their band names go together quite well. Convoy and the Cattlemen are an Arlington group with a fun and quirky mix of country and rabble rousing punk, while the Driftin' Outlaw Band are a Dallas group of literal outlaws who started a band as a cover for their misdeeds (note: this may not be true).
Fashion Week DFW's Fashion Friday with Lyzbeth at Class Lounge
Former America's Next Top Model contestant LyzBeth (who is from Arlington) will be hosting this fashion event, which will contain designs by Leslie Pennel and Barron J. Pennel's line called “Esque” and will feature womenswear and accessories.
