Looking For A Special Internship This Summer?
A few weeks back, we added a couple of new entries to our “Careers” page, mostly in search of some bang-up summer intern candidates. We've already received a number of applications on that front (thanks!) and we hope to have that whole scenario wrapped up in the coming days. So, if you're a college student, you can work in exchange for class credit and you're interested in working one of those options, you're running out of time. Hit us up — like tonight, even.
You do have another option, though, as we're also seeking out an intern for a final position you won't see listed on that page.
This summer, we're seeking an intern to work not for us, but for the city and for our readers. You will be asked to do things for the greater good of the city (maybe through cleaning up some trash at an area park) or to assist our readers in making their lives a little easier (perhaps by helping an unemployed reader make copies of his or her resume).
To be honest, we're not a hundred percent sure what kind of tasks the city or our readership might need in the coming months. We just ask for a candidate willing do what they can to make Dallas a better place.
And, in exchange, we'll offer you a weekly column about your experiences, we'll work with you on your writing and reporting, and we'll give you class credit through your school if we can. Plus, you'll be able honestly say you made a difference in the city.
Interested parties are asked to reach out to us through this form by Friday, May 11, at 5 p.m. Please be sure to put “Public Intern” in the “Position” field.
