Deep Ellum's About To Have The Fastest Internet In The City.

Deep Ellum is known for its hyper-speed nightlife. Now, it’s going to get recognized for its hyper-speed Internet.

Yesterday, WFAA reported on a new, just-unveiled, million-dollar fiber optic project called Ellum.net. With the speeds over 100 times what you're currently running at home, Ellum.net will run as fast as up to one gigabyte per second. It will be the fastest Internet you can find within Dallas city limits.

This means that, if you’re in a hurry, you can download all the porn you want — and really, really fast. But since you're a standup citizen, you'll mostly just be able let your clients know they can send you a large file and that you'll have it downloaded in seconds, not minutes. Or, conversely, you can send them a large file in minutes.

Just know this: Right now, this isn't open to anyone. You have to hop on the wait list if you want in. Also? Pricing starts at $450 for commercial use, which is a little steep. On the other hand, though, residents can get in on the 50 mbps action for $50.

And that ain't bad.
