Big Tex Stands Tall.

Name: Big Tex.

Occupation: Greeter at the State Fair of Texas.
Found: The State Fair of Texas.
How would you describe your style? “I’m a true western cowboy with a spirited sense of style. I’m also a practical guy who prefers solid workmanship and comfort, offered by Fort Worth’s own Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Co.”
What are you wearing? “I always have on my 95-gallon cowboy hat. My custom-made belt is 33-feet long and is one-foot, five-inches wide. My statement piece is my stylish boots, which are a 1949 replica boot designed by Lucchese, size 96.”
What inspires your sense of fashion? “The biggest issue I face is finding things that fit. For example, my western shirt runs a size 200×325 [neck x sleeve]. An average man’s size is 16×32. To compound the issue, I have a 33-foot, nine-inch chest, 11-foot neck and shoulders measuring 13-feet. As such, it takes a team of Dickies sewing experts two weeks just to make me one shirt. It has to be durable enough to withstand a month out in the elements, too, so Dickies makes it out of awning material with venting slits in the material so the wind can blow through it. My jean size is 434×240 [waist x inseam], so it takes 100 yards of fabric to make my pants. As for those suckers, they weigh 100 pounds and have 3.5-inch rivets and take a week to make. They’re a replica of Dickies’ popular five-pocket jeans, made from Dickies’ flame-resistant denim, provided by Mount Vernon Mills in Trion, Georgia.”
