Winston's Got a Passion For Fashion.
Name: Winston Duncan.
Age: 22.
Occupation: Menswear salesman at Nordstrom.
Found: FUTURE at the W.A.A.S Gallery.
What are you wearing tonight? “Tonight, I'm wearing Joe Jeans, Calvin Klein shoes, a Nordstrom shirt, an H&M jacket, a vintage Dior tie and a Burberry tie bar. And, of course, a signature Dallas move: A Michael Kors watch.”
You were telling me some tie bar tips earlier. Let's hear 'em again. “Your tie bar never is supposed to be longer than your actual tie. It's usually supposed to be about a quarter of an inch shorter than the tie. But Burberry made skinny ties with extremely long tie bars.”
Sounds like you know your stuff. What inspires your overall sense of style? “Growing up in Dallas my whole life has really been an inspiration. A lot of women in my family have been very inspirational with my fashion choices. My grandmother would always comment on how I used to go through her jewelry boxes and I would organize everything. What got me into fashion was how she dressed and her styles from the '60s. I always loved how everyone was very clean and polished.”
So you've always been into fashion, then. “I've actually done some modeling. When I was eight years old, I was in a Ralph Lauren photo shoot. I went to Kansas State University and I double-majored minored in pre-law and political science — completely different from the fashion world. But my passions are law, politics, and fashion.”
