Deep Ellum Readies Itself For a Hot Rod Takeover This Weekend.

For the 5th year in a row, the Invasion Car Show will be back in Deep Ellum on Saturday, September 1, all along Elm Street and right by Trees.

Starting at 10 a.m., the day promises to be full of pre-1964 hot rods and custom cars, along with a slew of everyday ladies dressed in their best pin-up girl outfits — some that could even make Betty Paige a bit jealous. The Bomb Fried Pies and Rock & Roll Tacos trucks will also be onsite to fill your sweet little belly, and Big Sandy & Los Straitjackets will be on stage, keeping your eardrums happy. Those interested in registering their own cars for the event can do so here or at the event for a small fee. Spectators, meanwhile, get in free.

If you have not been down to Deep Ellum on Labor Day weekend to enjoy this event, let's just say that you lose In the contest of life. It is one of the more amazing events in Dallas, as some of these pics from last year's event help prove.
