Fishing in Japan – “Only on the Weekends.”
RIYL: Staying up all night.
What else you should know: Yesterday, we did a call-out piece detailing the High School and Under nominees in our upcoming Music Honors. One of the honorees you can vote on in that category this year is indie-pop outfit Fishing in Japan, which boasts two members from Booker T., another from Woodrow Wilson and a fourth at UNT.
It’s no fluke that the kids wound up on the list. Still less than a year into its existence (they’ll celebrate that milestone in March) the boys have started off 2019 stronger than ever.
Perhaps with a touch of guidance from singer Wolfgang Hunter’s Emmy Award-nominated composer father, the outfit is getting seriously slick already. The melodies are simple and hooky, the synth counterpoints are on point and Wolfgang’s production is already pro AF.
