Watch: St. Vincent and Carrie Brownstein Joined Pearl Jam To Cover Neil Young on Friday.
Weekend editors at various online music publications were busy all weekend long posting the below clip, so apologies if you've seen this before. But, even so, it's still worth sharing — mostly because, hey, it happened.
Yes: Dallas' own Annie Clark (known better to the masses as St. Vincent) joined her friend and sometime comedic collaborator Carrie Brownstein (of Sleater-Kinney, Wild Flag, NPR and Portlandia fame) on stage at the American Airlines Center on Friday night to help Pearl Jam cover Neil Young's “Rockin' In The Free World.”
A couple things worth noting: It was the show's second local connection, as Pearl Jam had tapped Denton's Midlake to open both this Friday show and Saturday's Oklahoma City date; Brownstein, meanwhile, had also just recently made an appearance out in the crowd at Clark's October show at First Unitarian Church of Dallas.
So? Well, I dunno. If there's any greater meaning to be gleaned from this happenstance, I'm at a loss. All the same: It's still pretty cool. Give it a look-see below.
