Grab A Free Download of A.Dd+'s Latest Boastful Jam.
You've got to give the rap duo of Paris Pershun and Slim Gravy credit. More so than any other act going, these two rappers, who perform together under the A.Dd+ banner, are working hard to bring some shine to the Dallas hip-hop scene. And, one release at a time, their efforts are proving rather successful.
Just yesterday, the duo's latest track, “Where You Been?,” earned its online release via SPIN. And in the hours since, the song has poured its way on down to the rest of blogosphere.
The song, as with most everything A.Dd+ is doing of late, comes as a free-to-download prelude to the upcoming national release of their DiveHiFlyLo later, which local fans have been jamming for almost half a year at this point.
That national release, however, will feature a few new cuts so as to keep things fresh for even the local fans. “Where You Been?” is a direct result of that aim. It's also the product of A.Dd+'s recent trip to Atlanta, where the twosome worked with producer DJ Burn One, who has contributed tracks to such similarly nationally buzzing acts artists such as A$AP Rocky and Yelawolf.
This collaboration is evident in the track, too. Hints of Burn One's signature, Dirty South-inspired, chopped-and-screwed style run throughout, and, as a result, the song features more of a deliberate pace than some of A.Dd+'s other recent releases. Still, it totally works — and it's no surprise that A.Dd+ has the versatility to adapt their Texan swag to this altered, and yet appropriately southern, production.
The song, we should note, also acts as something of a literal wake-up call to the rest of the industry; the premise of the track finds A.Dd+ quite literally calling out its newer, late-to-the-game listeners for just finding out about their long-known-around-here talents.
Give the track a listen and download below, then try to argue with the group's boastful claims that they're “putting Dallas on the map.”
You'll have a hard time doing so, really.
