Dallas Luminaries Tim DeLaughter and Erykah Badu Link Up For A New Preteen Zenith Track.
A while back, we'd heard that Erykah Badu and Tim DeLaughter — two of Dallas music's most prominent figures in music or, really, anything else — had been talking about teaming up together for a track on the upcoming debut release from DeLaughter's Preteen Zenith project with Secret Machines member Phil Karnats.
Turns out it was more than just talk. This afternoon, Preteen Zenith released a stream of a new song called “Damage Control” that features some background cooing from Badu.
Overall, it's a rather lighthearted affair — less bombastic than Preteen Zenith's earlier teases implied, for sure — and, as such, seems to indicate a little more sonic balance than anyone could've realistically anticipated from the upcoming Preteen Zenith album.
We'll find out for sure on May 29, when Good Records Recordings officially releases that debut, called Rubble Guts & BB Eye — and maybe even a little earlier, actually.
Earlier today, our friends at Gorilla Vs. Bear reported that the label is planning on releasing an early vinyl version of that release on Saturday, April 21, at Good Records' Record Store Day festivities.
