Scenes From Last Night's Black Mountain, Besnard Lakes and Suuns Show at Dada.
Last night's offering over at Club Dada essentially amounted to a Canadian showcase as Vancouver's Black Mountain and Montreal's The Besnard Lakes and Suuns each performed as part of a strong triple-bill in the venerable Deep Ellum club.
But, as much of a stopover date as this show could have been considering that all three bands on the bill were using this show as a warm-up of sorts for their appearances at Austin's Psych Fest this weekend, it mostly proved to be a strong showing before last night's solid, if not sold-out, crowd.
For over an hour, Black Mountain, the headliners on this bill, churned their psychedelic drone, and, even that didn't prove enough to satiate their audience, who would cheer the band to not one, but two encore performances before the night was through.
The opening Montreal acts similarly pleased, with Besnard Lakes particularly dazzling on a visual note thanks to a trippy light-and-fog setup that went nicely with their shoegazey sound.
