Did We Troll Leon Bridges Into Dabbing On Saturday Night Live? It's Entirely Possible!

A couple weeks back, I reviewed Leon Bridges' homecoming show at the Majestic Theatre. It was a pretty fantastic show, if also one that revealed how Bridges could stand to get a little more comfortable on stage if he's going to offer up banter, as he did on that night.

Maybe that's a petty criticism — Bridges is still a great performer and his backing band is as luxurious as the things you can only purchase in Dubai — but it's certainly an area where Bridges, already seasoned beyond his years in so many other facets of his stage show, could still grow.

So, in my review, as a joke, I said it would've been cool if Bridges had dabbed during his performance — as if that could really be a legit criticism. (For readers who have been living under a moss-stained rock, dabbing

I also briefly spoke with Bridges at the Bobby Sessions album release show at Trees. And I may have playfully berated him for his lack of public dabbing there, too. It's possible I may not have — I really can't remember the exact details, sorry — but it sounds like something I would do.

Anyway, that all leads to this: In an Instagram post promoting his appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend, Bridges wrote that he might have to “hit the dab one time for the cam.” Wait, what?

Honestly, I thought I was just being trolled back. But, thing is, Bridges did dab during his SNL appearance — not during one of his performances, no, but during the goodbyes at the very end of the show.

He did it. He really, really did it.

Shout out to Leon Bridges. He is an absolute legend.

Harassing Leon Bridges into dabbing on national television would rank among maybe four or five for my greatest personal achievements of the year 2015, although I'm not sure this is completely my own doing. Twitter user @zeus_smg, who appears to be a childhood friend of Bridges', has also been demanding that Bridges dab on them folks for a few months.

Maybe, just like when people spot Dave Chappelle in public and yell “Rick James, bitch!” everybody just tells Leon Bridges to dab whenever they see him? It's also possible that Bridges, a man of culture, could have very well devised this grand scheme all on his own.

Either way, one thing's for certain. He's a better man now for having dabbed.

Update at 4:11 p.m.: Bridges himself just tweeted the below.

Uh, did we just get Leon Bridges to confirm that we trolled him into dabbing on Saturday Night Live? Maybe!

Update at 4:38 p.m.: Bridges is now denying that we had anything to do with his dabbing.

Right. OK. C'mon, Leon…
