Labor Day Weekend is upon us, and there’s a ton of things to choose from as far as occupying your long weekend goes. I’ll let you decide what to do with the rest of the weekend, but I’ve got a Friday plan that’ll knock your dates socks off. Mainly because it’s a proven fact that fireworks are cooler and more romantic from the water. Don’t believe me? Let this week’s PDN prove you wrong.

Dinner at Baja Mex Grill (1212 William D. Tate, Grapevine). Baja Mex Grill is a go-to when I’m in the City of the Grape. They’ve got the usual solid Tex-Mex fare like enchiladas, tacos, etc. but where they shine is their ultra-strong margaritas. I’d recommend sticking to one so you can stand upright on your paddleboard later. Not to get too ahead of myself but, yeah, there’s going to be some paddleboarding later. For now, definitely fuel up with some chips and salsa.

Labor Day Fireworks Paddle Tour (1999 Farris Branch Drive, Grapevine). Two of my favorite things are paddleboarding and fireworks, so as soon as I saw this pop up on my Facebook feed, I knew I was going. Full disclosure, I’m a member of DFW Surf’s Surf Club so I paddle with them regularly, but it doesn’t change the fact that this is an awesome paddle tour to go on. It’s open to all levels, and they’ll let you get your bearings first with some paddling around before taking you out for an hour to watch the fireworks from your board. Impress your date with your skills, grab an awesome shot or two for instagram (#FireworksFriday?) and have fun with a great group of people.
