The last few days have been beautiful outside, what with the winter chill mostly gone and the sun shining. But like all good things, it must come to an end, and this weekend will be back to dreary skies and scattered storms.
So, in place of our regular programming, we're going to put together a perfect date for those times when you don't want to leave your house. Call me DJ Khaled, folks, because I've got the keys to your success this homebound weekend.
Key 1: The Perfect Setup. As pretty much anyone ever can tell you, blanket forts are great at any age. They're cozy, they're warm, and they make anything done within them instantly more fun. Build one by following this guide and ignoring every mention of kids, because this is about our totally mature adult fort. Alternatives include nests of every blanket you can think of piled onto your living room floor or some large bean bags.
Key 2: Solid Entertainment. If you're a Netflix addict like me, you probably already know this. But PSA just the same: This Friday is the release of the newest House of Cards season. If that isn't excellent timing, then I don't know what is. Snuggle up and thank the heavens that your S.O. next to you isn't Frank Underwood. Other options include testing the strength of your relationship with a ruthless game of Monopoly, attempting not to drool as you watch Magic Mike XXL (currently on HBOgo), and things that movie-couples make seem normal, like learning to dance in your living room.
Key 3: Delicious Food. Just because the weather is bland doesn't mean your eats have to be too. Since today is solely about low effort and high fun, ordering in is the way to go. If you're lucky enough to be in delivery range of Zalat, I highly recommend getting one of their excellent pizzas and cracking open a cheap bottle of wine. Candles are optional. If not, there's still plenty of excellent options to keep y'all well-fed. So just pull up that Eat24 app and get scrolling. Substitute plans include drinking your calories and just having alcohol delivered by one of these services, throwing it back to your sleepover days with a basic Domino's order or battling each other Iron Chef-style with the contents of your fridge.
