Their collective output a this point equates to less than eight overall minutes of music, but no matter: DJ Sober and Picnic's Booty Fade project has already established itself as a favorite here in town, if not for their generous sampling of nouveau classic Dallas hip-hop cuts, then for the fact that the three free-to-download singles the group has uploaded to their Soundcloud page since February are all bona fide dance jams.
As with previous efforts “F#$k Like A Stripper,” which was built around and Treal Lee & Prince Rick sample, and “Styrofoam Cup,” which centered around a Dorrough clip, today's “Buss It” release owes a heavy debt to Lil Wil's 2008 radio hit, “Bust It Open.”
Most impressive is that fact that, according to Sober, each of these Dallas rap acts has given Booty Fade full blessing for their sonic appropriations.
