Complex Names Dallas-Fort Worth The Most Underrated Hip-Hop Scene In America.
Well, duh. Of course Marc Ecko's Complex named Dallas-Fort Worth the most underrated hip-hop city in America* today. Because it's true: Yes, as Kyle Kramer writes, “Dallas/Fort Worth makes a case for different version of Texas rap,” indeed. At least a few times now, we've referred to this era of North Texas hip-hop as a “golden age.” And we really believe that. The scene is just straight teeming with talent these days.
Here's why: It's not just the usual names any longer. There's a new generation taking over, and new, remarkably worthwhile names are popping up almost daily.
It's exciting as hell. And, yes, it's nice to know that we locals are no longer necessarily the only ones noticing it. So thanks for that, Complex.
Now, forget the underrated part, OK? Just rate the scene. It's ready. Has been for a minute now.
* One of the most underrated cities. Seems this was an unranked list. Apologies for the confusion.
