The Old 97's and The Relatives Represent North Texas on This Year's Austin City Limits Bil
Just after midnight last night, the folks behind the Austin City Limits Music Festival announced the lineup for their 2012 and 11th annual end-of-summer offering.
Per usual, the bill runs the gamut from mainstream acts (Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Keys, Florence + The Machine, Weezer, Childish Gambino) to legacy icons (Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Iggy & The Stooges, The Afghan Whigs) to industry innovators (Jack White, The Roots) to dance favorites (Avicii, Bassnectar, Thievery Corporation, Crystal Castles) to reliable roots acts (Avett Brothers, The Civil Wars) to buzz bands (M83, Alabama Shakes, The War on Drugs). Plus? The Shins, Big K.R.I.T, The Black Lips and some other outliers.
Also par for course, the festival features a few North Texas-bred talents, too. This year, however, out initial glance at the lineup only reveals two such acts: the once-forgotten, now-revered Dallas gospel-soul outfit The Relatives and long-adored area alt-country pioneers the Old 97's.
Check out the three-day event's complete lineup here.
Then, I guess, carve out some room in your day-planner for a trip to Austin's Zilker Park from Friday, October 12, through Sunday, October 14.
Oh, and you should probably plan a trip to visit your weed dealer on Thursday, October 11.
