Jose Canseco Is Signing With The Fort Worth Cats, At Least For A Little.
The Fort Worth Cats announced today that they have signed the most entertaining former professional baseball player on Twitter to their roster — well, for four games, at least.
That's about as far as today's press release announcing the signing is will to go. Canseco will join the roster of the independent United League team for the first four games of the season, starting this coming Thursday (May 23), which, interestingly, will find the Bash Brother squaring off against an Edinburg Roadrunners team managed by his identical twin brother, Ozzie. Beyond that — and a note about a stint of the more famous Canseco's with the United League team down in Laredo was a “huge draw” — there's no promise made in the announcement that this is any sort of long-term deal we're talking about.
This is not, we should note, the first time Ozzie and Jose have been linked together in a quick cash grab scheme. In 2011, Ozzie tried to stand in an impersonate Jose during a celebrity boxing fight.
Anyway, tickets behind home plate for Fort Worth Cats games run, like, $10.
And, hey, that's a cheap way to remind yourself what a beast Canseco was in RBI Baseball on the NES.
