Every Time I Die, Steve Aoki And The Acacia Strain Highlight First Unsilent Night 2012 Announcements

A couple of weeks back, I ran into Third Strings Productions head Mike Ziemer on the night he turned 26 years old. With another year under his belt, the man responsible for the glut of late '00s, suburban pop-punk festivals and annual events such as South by So What? and Unsilent Night appeared to be in something of a wistful mood. His music tastes had been changing of late, he admitted. He was tiring some of pop-punk acts he'd once so adored and that his audience had long come to expect him to bring to town. But he had some ideas on how to bridge the gap. It was an intriguing, if unsolicited, reveal from the young, successful promoter — and one that makes much more sense today.

This week, Ziemer and his Third String cohorts have announced the first round of acts set to perform at their 2012 Unsilent Night affair, which, in this its fifth year running, is set to take place on Saturday, December 1, at Fair Park's Centennial Hall.

And, as Ziemer teased, though the first round of announced bands do, for the most part, reside in his old pop-punk and screamo wheelhouse, there are, indeed, some surprising additions to be found in the list.

Among the more interesting adds? World-renowed hipster DJ Steve Aoki, Buffalo metal outfit Every Time I Die and local hardcore favorites Power Trip.

Also appearing on this year's early announce list: For Today, The Chariot, LetLive, Upon A Burning Body, Veil Of Maya, The Acacia Strain, Volumes, Kills & Thrills, Blood On The Dance Floor, Brokencyde, Power Strangers (DJ), The Hi-Yahs (DJ), Crizzly (DJ), Big Chocolate (DJ), Tommy Noble (DJ), Mod Sun, Goldhouse, Adestria, Through Arteries, Autoerotique (DJ), Feature Cuts (DJ), Illustrated (DJ), MyChildren MyBride, Wolves at the Gate and Even Camera Lie.

Aoki is set to headline the second of two main stages, whereas the first main stage and side stage headliners are still to be announced in the coming weeks.

Tickets, of course, are already on sale, though. Grab them for $45 right here.
