Check Out The Artists Participating In Art Conspiracy's Upcoming Taxidermy-Themed MOUNTED Event

For the past decade one of our favorite art events — and, we think it's pretty safe to say, one of the entire city's favorite such events — has been Art Conspiracy. Not only is it fascinating to discover what dozens of local artists can create in a 24-hour period, but it's also interesting to see how wide-ranging these final products are, especially given that everyone starts on a level playing field after being provided the same 18-by-18 inch piece of plywood to use as their canvases.

The fact that all the proceeds from the sales of these works are given to an art-based local charity? That's just the cherry on top.

And, as the event has grown over the years, so too has the annual summer seed event, which helps fund the main fall season shebang. It's gotten to the point, actually, that ArtCon director Todd McCaulay told us these pre-Art Con events have actually started to become more like a second show than a fundraising event.

That fact is more than evident with this year's Art Con seed event, MOUNTED, which is slated to go down on June 8 at Life in Deep Ellum. In addition to performances from Bethan and Calhoun, plus appearances from various area-based food trucks, the event's main attraction will be an auction featuring taxidermy-based pieces created by 42 locally-based artists.

So, yeah, the line of distinction between ArtCon and its seed events? It does seem to be growing fainter by the year. To be honest, though? We're perfectly cool with that.

It just means there's more ArtCon love to go around.
