Josey Records Taps Blue The Misfit, Sam Lao, The Cush, More For Own First-Ever Record Store Day Bash
There are indeed other, more-established record stores in Dallas. But few of them can compete with the sheer scale of the 15,500-square-foot Josey Records, which, you no doubt recall, opened its doors to the pubic back in October after months of anticipation.
Now, with Record Store Day fast-approaching on on Saturday, April 18, and CD Source unfortunately moving out of the way, music nerds can look forward to something else from the ever-impressive new shop — its emergence as the challenger to Good Records' throne in battle to rock the crown as the king of area Record Store Day celebrations.
For its first-ever go at RSD, Josey — which, within its massive floorplan, boasts an honest-to-goodness DJ booth and a separate stage for live performers — will welcome an impressive lineup of performers all its own to its confines over the course of the day-long celebration. Among the performers? Local hip-hop heavyweights Blue the Misfit, -topic and Sam Lao, plus noteworthy noisemakers Black Dotz, The Cush and Nervous Curtains. The party will also afford customers the chance to get in early on up-and-coming local artists KoolQuise and Rat Rios, plus a couple of nice catches from Denton's singer-songwriter riches in Kaela Sinclair and Jessie Frye.
In other words: Options abound this year, which is almost certainly a good thing.
