We're Bringing Soulja Boy to the Prophet Bar on August 2.
First of all: No, Soulja Boy's not dead.
Far from it. Actually, he's living quite well, thanks.
Because here's the thing: Against all odds, Soulja Boy is still around, still producing hits and still stunting on anyone with the gall to blast him as a potential one-hit wonder in the wake of his breakthrough “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” smash from the fall of 2007. Since the release of that Internet-spurred hit, the man who arguably deserves the most credit (or blame) for the once-red-hot “D-Town Boogie” movement, the rapper born DeAndre Way extended his career through the likes of such hits as “Turn My Swag On” and “Pretty Boy Swag” before deftly reinventing himself in the wake of his third LP, 2010's The DeAndre Way, as a street-savvy mixtape artist.
Four years going now and Soulja Boy's still yet to release a new LP — and yet, at the same time, he's found himself at a more credible place than ever in his career thanks to smart collaborations with the likes of our old similarly genre-pushing pals in Migos.
And then there's this unavoidable smash he teamed up with Drake to unleash unto the world a few months back:
Given all of the above, you can see why we're excited to share the following announcement: Once again, we and our pals at 365 Live Entertainment (with whom we've already teamed up to bring RiFF RAFF, Nipsey Hustle and Migos to town) have joined forces, and, this time, we're bringing in Soulja Boy for a gig on Saturday, August 2, at Prophet Bar.
Tickets are on sale right now right here for $20 a pop. Get 'em quick.
Also, you can keep tabs on the show and let us know you're coming here.
We'll see you on the 2nd.
