Toadies To Headline Fifth Annual Homegrown Festival.
Until this morning, we didn't know all that much about this summer's Homegrown Music and Arts Fest — well, other than the fact the event will be returning on May 10 and that, for a fifth straight year, it will place at Dallas' Main Street Garden Park.
Now, in addition to the date and location the Homegrown folks have begun their slow reveal of this year's acts, starting at top with the announcement that local icons the Toadies will headline this year's lineup.
Is the move a tad predictable? Sure, considering the fact that Homegrown falls right in the middle of a run of national dates from the Toadies in support of the 20th anniversary of their breakthrough album, Rubberneck, and that the band had yet to announce a local date for that tour.
Still, with the band playing that seminal local album front to back on this tour, you won't hear too many complaints from us on this one. We should note, too, that this performance comes roughly a month after that album becomes available for the first time on vinyl. Also? It's the band's first-ever appearance at Homegrown.
As for the rest of the lineup? Organizers say they'll continue the slow burn with two more reveals coming on February 18 and March 4. Considering that one of this year's sponsors is the Chevy Music Showcase folks, though, we bet you can guess at least a few more bands that may end up on this year's bill.
For now, though, just know that pre-sale tickets for Homegrown 5 are now available here for $20. Also worth knowing: They'll be $25 if you wait to buy them at the gate.
