Premiere: A.Dd+'s “Every Man Is King” Video.
This much we know: Dallas rap duo A.Dd+ is quite proud of its Dallas roots.
Always has been. The proof is forever in the pudding: Look no farther than either “Thank You Dallas” or the DJ Sober-helmed “I'm So Dallas” cut from When Pigs Fly and it becomes abundantly clear that Slim Gravy and Paris Pershun just straight up adore their hometown.
And yet, as if we still needed it, here now comes even more Dallas love from the twosome currently sitting atop the Dallas rap game: The group's new Thomas Biggers-shot music video finds Slim and Paris walking the streets of Dallas, mugging for the camera with friends and fans alike, and asking various Dallasites — some random, others pre-arranged — to join them in posing with a sign bearing the words “Every Man Is King,” which, of course, is the title of this, the Blue, The Misfit-produced, fourth song on A.Dd+'s last year-released DiveHiFlyLo.
The idea here with this clip? Optimism, says Slim. For starters, just the phrase “Every Man Is King” alone is meant to inspire that. But there's more to it, he says.
“Basically, Dallas has been very good to us,” the rapper explains. “And we wanted everyone to feel like they were part of something we did. It's more than just coming to shows. We want people to be part of our history.”
Lots of people, too. And therein lies the fun: How many notable Dallasites can you recognize posing in this clip? A dozen? More? Count for yourself in the below clip, which we here at Central Track are proud to present as an exclusive premiere.
(Oh, and before you ask, we already did: The opening scene wasn't planned.)
